Sapura Energy Berhad (Sapura Energy) marked a significant milestone with the award of its first contract in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Petrofac Emirates LLC, for the Dalma Gas Development Project (Offshore EPC Package – A) by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The contract was awarded through its subsidiary’s branch office in Abu Dhabi.
The scope of works to be performed by Sapura Energy and Petrofac Emirates LLC (Petrofac) under the Contract includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of all offshore facilities, several wellhead platforms, one hundred and eighty nine kilometres (189km) of subsea pipelines, cables and umbilical forming the Dalma Gas Development Project.
The offshore installation scope will be executed using a vessel from Sapura Energy’s fleet of Dynamically Positioned (DP) Heavy Lift and Pipelay vessels.
The works will take approximately 30 months to complete.
“We are committed to delivering the Dalma Gas Development Project with our hallmark technical capabilities in offshore engineering and construction,” said Sapura Energy President and Group CEO Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin. “Our priority is to support ADNOC in unlocking value from their asset.”
The Dalma Gas Development Project is a key part of the Ghasha ultra-sour gas concession which is central to ADNOC’s strategic objective of enabling gas self-sufficiency for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Tan Sri Shahril also stressed the significance of this project to the long-term cooperation between Sapura Energy and Petrofac. “We are proud to be working with Petrofac on this major project and will continue to strengthen the relationship between our two companies,” Tan Sri Shahril remarked.
The Project also enables the company to leverage on its EPCIC knowledge and capabilities to capture more opportunities in the Middle East, as part of its long-term growth strategy.
