Sapura Energy Berhad (Sapura Energy) won Company of the Year for the Energy Services, Offshore and Marine category at the Asia Pacific (APAC) Energy Awards by Energy Council, against strong competition from leading global industry players.
Accepting the award at the APAC Energy dinner, Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin, President and Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are honoured to be selected as Company of the Year (for the Energy Services, Offshore and Marine category). This achievement is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of our employees around the world. I am proud and humbled to accept this award on their behalf.”
“We would also like to thank PETRONAS, our partners and clients for their support over the years. Sapura Energy had its humble beginnings as a diving contractor some 20 years ago. Through the guidance of our sponsors, mainly under the PETRONAS vendor development programme, we have been able to build our competencies and expertise to be a full-fledged global player in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction field,” added Tan Sri Shahril.
Today, Sapura Energy is a leading global integrated oil and gas services and solutions provider operating across the entire upstream value chain. With a footprint in over 20 countries, Sapura Energy has 9,000-strong highly-skilled and technically-capable multinational workforce, strategic world-class assets, and strong project management capabilities.
The Energy Council’s Awards represent a global benchmark of excellence for those working in the oil and gas industry. The awards honour and recognise industry players who have been at the heart of the region’s related activity in the last 12 months. Over 50 judges took part over the course of several weeks to trim down the publicly-decided long list of nominees to determine the winner for each award.
The Award ceremony was held at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore in conjunction with the APAC Energy Assembly which is a gathering of an influential energy investment network. The Energy Assembly saw the participation of major oil and gas players coming together to discuss issues impacting the industry and factors influencing its recovery.
